The Crepey Skin Page

Crepey Skin.
What's real.

That thin, papery texture on your arms, chest, or neck that showed up out of nowhere? It is not because you forgot to moisturize. It is because your estrogen dropped and took your collagen with it. Skin elasticity declines 1.5% every single year after menopause.

Some of this is reversible. Some of it is manageable. All of it makes more sense once you understand what is actually happening underneath.

EltaMD UV Clear Broad Spectrum SPF 46

Published study in J Drugs in Dermatology (2024). #1 dermatologist recommended sunscreen brand in the US. Contains niacinamide for barrier repair. The 903-person Hughes RCT proved daily sunscreen slows skin aging by 24%. UV damage is the #1 cause of crepey skin. This is where you start.

Every product is selected based on published clinical data, not sponsorship. See the full evidence on our What Works page.

The bottom line.

Crepey skin is driven by estrogen loss, collagen decline, and cumulative sun damage. The evidence-backed approach: daily sunscreen to stop adding damage, retinol to stimulate collagen rebuilding, vitamin C to support that process, and deep hydration to address the dryness component. Professional treatments work but cost more.

No cream will reverse 20 years of sun exposure overnight. But consistent use of evidence-backed ingredients can meaningfully improve skin texture over 6 to 12 months. The research is clear on that.
